Andres Herrera’s journey with Simms & Associates began long before he officially joined the team.

Around six years ago, he first considered joining what was then a small consulting firm competing alongside much larger names in the industry. Having worked with one of its consultants as a customer, Andres had already experienced the company’s expertise firsthand.

Three years later, when the opportunity came around again, his answer was an easy one.

“Of course, I was interested three years ago, now I’m still interested.”

By then, Simms had grown into a more established organization. But what stood out to Andres was how much of its original character had remained.

Despite the growth, the company still felt welcoming, familiar and, as he describes it, “nice and cozy.”

Different perspectives, stronger teams

For Andres, one of the most distinctive things about S&A is its people.

Over the past three years, he has had the opportunity to work with almost everyone across the organization. What he appreciates most is that no two colleagues approach things in quite the same way.

“Each brings a completely unique way of seeing things and approaching things.”

Rather than expecting everyone to fit a particular mold, Andres believes these different personalities and perspectives are precisely what make collaboration so effective.

It’s also what keeps the workday interesting.

There’s always more to learn

Joining S&A meant moving from a broad professional role into a more focused consulting position.

Over time, however, Andres has seen his responsibilities expand again, allowing him to contribute across different areas of client support.

For someone who enjoys learning and getting involved in new things, that evolution has been particularly rewarding.

His biggest lesson? Recognizing that expertise doesn’t mean having every answer.

“I should not know everything. I should just only know where to find the answers.”

It’s a mindset that has encouraged him to remain curious, explore new approaches and continue developing his knowledge.

The freedom to be yourself

As S&A has grown, Andres believes one thing has remained consistent: the ability to enjoy working together.

Even during demanding periods, colleagues find opportunities to share a laugh.

For Andres, that balance matters.

“People have this freedom to be themselves.”

It’s a culture where individuality is welcomed, collaboration comes naturally and people can bring their personalities to work.

Still more to discover

Three years into his journey, Andres sees plenty of opportunities ahead.

Every new client brings different requirements, fresh perspectives and opportunities to explore areas he hasn’t encountered before.

That continued sense of discovery is a big part of what keeps him motivated.

As Simms & Associates celebrates its 10th anniversary, Andres’s story reflects a culture built on curiosity, individuality and continuous learning.

And perhaps his favorite phrase heard across the company captures that spirit best:

“We can do it.”
