“When I started, there wasn’t really a company yet.”

Jorge’s journey with Simms & Associates began before the company formally existed. What started as a collaboration in Madrid quickly became something bigger — driven, as he explains, by Amanda’s energy, vision, and intensity.

“There was practically no company at that point. What hooked me was Amanda’s magnetism and the way she sees things.”

Ten years later, Jorge is still here, having seen the business evolve from a two-person collaboration into a fully structured global organization.

From survival mode to building better ways of working

Looking back, Jorge describes his journey in two phases. The early years were defined by continuous learning and survival. Every project was new, every customer different, and there were no shortcuts — just learning, asking questions, and adapting fast.

As the company grew and stabilized, Jorge was able to focus more deeply on integration. That shift allowed him to develop processes, apply learnings from one project to the next, and deliver more efficient and successful outcomes for customers.

It marked a move from simply getting through projects to building more sustainable ways of working.

Collaboration at the core

Asked what defines how people work at Simms & Associates, Jorge answers without hesitation: collaboration.

Having worked closely with many consultants across the business, he describes a culture where knowledge is openly shared and learning is mutual.

“You contribute, someone else contributes, and suddenly you’ve gained more knowledge. It’s a very rewarding way of working.”

A broader mindset

One of the biggest unexpected learnings for Jorge came from working internationally. Before Simms, most of his experience had been within Spanish companies. Working with people from different countries, cultures, and perspectives helped him develop a more open mindset.

“You realize there isn’t just one right way of doing things.”

That openness has become a defining part of both his professional growth and the company’s culture.

What hasn’t changed

Despite the growth, Jorge believes the foundations of Simms & Associates remain intact. Many of the early team members are still part of the journey, and shared values continue to guide how the company works.

Amanda’s role, he notes, has been a constant point of reference throughout that evolution.

Looking ahead

After nearly a decade, what has kept Jorge at Simms & Associates is simple: feeling comfortable, challenged, and surrounded by people he respects.

“When you’re happy somewhere, you don’t need to look elsewhere.”

Looking to the future, he’s excited to see how the company continues to grow and evolve — just as it has over the past ten years.

Up next

At the end of the conversation, Jorge passes the spotlight to the next interviewee in our series: Laura Gasiunas — someone he describes as a key connector across operations, HR, finance, and internal processes.

Next week, we continue our 10th Birthday Series with Laura, as the conversation — and the story — moves forward.

One story every week. One year celebrating the people behind Simms & Associates.
